In order to grow our reach and impact, we need support. We are looking for people to volunteer at our venue based discos or our mobile discos in care homes. It’s a hugely rewarding experience and requires very little time commitment beyond attending the disco.

  • Saturday or Sunday 5-7pm

Activities of the role
  • Get the Dementia Disco playlist playing through the speakers (Spotify access will be provided)
  • Meet and greet people as they come in
  • Hand out name badges, create badges for any new people
  • Help people to find a seat
  • Encourage people to make song requests
  • Encourage people to dance, if they are able
  • Sell raffle tickets
  • Let people know food is ready
  • Run the raffle
  • Make announcements about Dementia Disco news and upcoming events
  • Help to tidy up at the end of the disco

A mobile disco is a Dementia Disco held in a care home. These discos are for people who are unable to attend a venue-based disco.
Commitment asked
  • 1 hour per month
  • Usually an evening 6-7pm although other times are available to suit you

Activities of the role
  • Introduce yourself and tell them where you are from and why you are here
  • Follow a script provided and select the songs listed from Spotify (access will be provided)
  • Encourage people to make song requests
  • Encourage people to dance, if they are able

  • Play music from the 50’s/60’s/70’s including rock and roll, Motown, disco. Songs should be fun, uplifting, good to dance to

Catering volunteer
A catering volunteer plays a vital role in our weekend Dementia Discos by preparing and delivering the wonderful free meals that our guests enjoy. These events bring joy and connection to people living with dementia, their carers, and their families.
Commitment asked
  • Around 4-5 hours on a Saturday or Sunday (once a month)
  • Must be able to deliver the prepared food to the venue by 4:00pm
Required qualities
  • Caring and friendly
  • Reliable and organised
  • Confident with basic food preparation and hygiene
  • Positive, pro-active attitude
  • A love of music and dancing
  • A desire to help support your local dementia community
Activities of the role
  • Prepare the meal on the day of the disco, or defrost/reheat pre-prepared frozen portions from a previous event
  • Safely transport and deliver the food to the disco venue by 4:00pm on the Saturday or Sunday
  • Stay at the venue to lay the food out nicely, ensuring it is ready for guests to help themselves
  • Chat with guests and maintain a warm, welcoming, and tidy buffet area
  • Pack away any leftovers and help tidy up the food station at the end
