We are absolutely delighted to announce the exciting appointment of Matt Neilson as Dementia Disco's Trustee Treasurer! This marks a significant milestone in our charity's growth and governance, and we couldn't be more thrilled to have Matt on board.
Matt joins us with an impressive background as the Head of Finance at Uinsure, conveniently based in Manchester, making him perfectly situated to support our local charity. He is a highly experienced Senior Finance professional and a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA), bringing over 13 years of invaluable experience from diverse accounting roles across various industries and business settings.
What makes Matt ideal for this role is his ability to blend rigorous financial control, expert treasury management, and insightful strategic thinking. He has a proven track record of supporting growth in businesses, including start-up entities, and is skilled at influencing positive change, leading teams, streamlining operations, and fostering cash discipline – all vital skills for a growing charity like ours.
Matt also has a fantastic passion for music and is a self-confessed 'bedroom DJ' – a perfect fit for the spirit of Dementia Disco! Furthermore, his familiarity with franchise models, gained through volunteering at Park Run events and observing how they operate successfully across multiple locations, will be incredibly beneficial as we explore future expansion.
Matt joins Dementia Disco at a truly exciting time as we continue to grow and reach more people. We are confident that his extensive knowledge and expertise will be an extremely valuable asset to our team and will help us ensure our financial sustainability as we expand.

We were thrilled to collaborate again with the fantastic team at The
Teenage Market for their event at Merseyway Shopping Centre on 28th May! It was
a vibrant day filled with youthful energy, and Dementia Disco was thrilled to be asked
to "bring the party" to such a wonderful community initiative.
Following our first meeting with The Teenage Market, at the Davenport Party in the
Park, we were excited to party with them again. For those unfamiliar, The Teenage
Market is a fast-growing national initiative, originally founded by teenage brothers
Tom and Joe Barratt in Stockport, and now run by Joe and Scarlett (another sibling
from this uber-talented family). Their mission is truly inspiring: to transform town
and city centres by providing a free platform for young people (aged 13-25) to
showcase their creative talents, try out new business ideas, and sell their unique
products. Beyond just retail, their events also feature live performances from young
bands, dancers, musicians, and comedians, injecting a fantastic burst of energy,
vibrancy, and diversity into local high streets. It's all about supporting the next
generation of entrepreneurs and performers!
On the day, we arrived armed with our trusty Bluetooth speaker and a treasure trove
of disco accessories, including colourful feather boas and silly glasses. We
unleashed some truly "banging tunes" that created an atmosphere of pure joy and
fun for everyone. We loved seeing people get into the spirit and enjoy the music.
It was an honour to be part of an event that fosters such incredible community spirit
and supports young talent. The event also gave us a chance to party with the
wonderful Ohana Theatre again, which is always a pleasure – their young
performers are so talented.
Our collaboration with The Teenage Market highlights the power of intergenerational
connection and how different groups can come together to create memorable and
positive experiences. We extend a huge thank you to The Teenage Market for
inviting us to be a part of their success!
